On this day: 3 players lost to 1967 expansion draft; Amir Johnson born

On this day, ex-Boston Celtics big man Amir Johnson was born, and three players were taken from the team in the 1967 NBA expansion draft.

Today is the anniversary of two playoff victories for Boston since the season of their last title in 2007-08. The first was an 87-80 win over the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the 2012 Eastern Conference Playoffs.

Paul Pierce would almost single-handedly will the Celtics to the win, outscoring the Hawks by himself over the final 15 minutes of game time to log a 36-point, 14-rebound performance.

Kevin Garnett added 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists to help tie the series 1-1.
