Oklahoma’s pro day will be a hotspot for NFL talent

Kenneth Murray and Neville Gallimore are great second-round candidates for the Browns

The premier spot on the pro day circuit on Wednesday is in Norman for Oklahoma’s workout. All 32 teams are expected to be in attendance to catch several Sooners trying to raise their draft stock.

The Cleveland Browns know the Oklahoma program well, having taken Baker Mayfield No. 1 overall back in 2018. Some of Mayfield’s former teammates could join him in Cleveland in the 2020 NFL Draft, too.

With an eye toward the Browns, here are some of the Sooners working out:

CeeDee Lamb, WR – If Cleveland pulls a stunner and goes after a wideout at No. 10 overall, Lamb figures to be in play. He’s fantastic after the catch and crafty at getting open quickly despite not having any elite athletic traits.

Neville Gallimore, DT – A high-energy Canadian with excellent upper-body strength and quick feet, Gallimore shined at the Senior Bowl in 1-on-1 reps. He has leverage issues from playing too upright and is more reactive than instinctive, but there’s a lot to like with his game too.

Kenneth Murray, LB – Murray isn’t working out at the pro day after tweaking his hamstring at the combine. His top-50 stock is set thanks to Murray’s great range and quick reactions at the second level. It’s easy to see the Browns tabbing Murray as Joe Schobert’s successor with their second-round pick if he’s still on the board.

Jalen Hurts, QB – Mayfield’s successor at the controls of Lincoln Riley’s open offense, Hurts would make for a smart backup to Baker. Hurts doesn’t have Mayfield’s arm strength or dynamic leadership, but he’s accurate and smart with the ball, handling pressure exceptionally well.

Parnell Motley, CB – Motley was a prominent combine snub, so his workout is critical. He has length outside at 6-1 but needs more meat on his bones, though being lightweight (listed 180) hasn’t stopped Motley from being aggressive and physical. He helped his stock at the Shrine Bowl.
