Oklahoma junior captain Lynnsie Elam was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Tuesday.

At the Hillenbrand Invitational over the weekend, Elam helped the Sooners to a 4-1 record with seven hits, seven RBI’s and four home runs. She scored eight total runs in five games.

Elam’s best performance of the weekend came against No. 4 Arizona, when she helped Oklahoma climb back from a 4-2 deficit. She hit her fourth home run of the year, a solo-shot in the sixth inning, to bring the eventual win within one.

She had a put-out in the bottom of the eighth inning that prevented an Arizona walk-off win.

Elam is averaging one hit per game in nine games played, as well as eight RBI’s.  She leads the team in home runs, and is tied for sixth nationally with five.

The Sooners now head to Cathedral City, CA to participate in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic Feb. 21-23. Their first game is Friday against Nebraska at 12:30 p.m.
