Oklahoma’s Kenneth Murray predicted he’d be first-round pick as senior in high school

Kenneth Murray called his shot, predicting how he’d enter into the NFL, specifically in the first round.

Three years ago, 17-year-old Kenneth Murray sent out a tweet as a senior in high school.

The Oklahoma linebacker called his shot, predicting how he’d enter into the NFL, specifically in the first round.

Thursday night Murray’s prediction, and dream, came true when he was selected No. 23 overall by the Los Angeles Chargers.

Murray was a dominant force on the Oklahoma defense, leading the team both statistically and vocally. In his time with Oklahoma, Murray amassed 325 total tackles, 36.5 being for loss. The 6’2”, 243 lb linebacker always had the attributes to succeed, but found the most success under Alex Grinch in his senior season.

Despite having 53 less total tackles from his junior to senior season, he finished with 4.5 more tackles for loss, and was in visibly better position to be a playmaker on defense. It was here he established himself as a first round talent.

The NFL draft will continue through Friday and will conclude Saturday night. Along with Murray, WR CeeDee Lamb was chosen No. 17 overall by the Dallas Cowboys.
