Fresh off claiming the 2021 national title a week ago, Oklahoma softball has already made a big splash this offseason by adding North Texas transfer pitcher Hope Trautwein into the fold for next season.

This is a very significant addition for two obvious reasons: A) Trautwein is very talented who absolutely dominated the C-USA in her time there and B) the Sooners are looking to replace two of their three key pitchers in Giselle Juarez and Shannon Saile.
Trautwein is the back-to-back C-USA conference pitcher of the year and is the North Texas career leader in ERA, wins, opponent batting averageĀ andĀ strikeouts per nine innings. She also is famously known for tossing a 21-strikeout perfect game last season. 21 up, 21 down, 21 strikeouts. That’s pretty good.
The rich get richer in college softball as Patty Gasso has already addressed one of the very few needs on this roster heading into a crack at repeating in 2022.
