ESPN revealed their annual preseason Football Power Index rankings on Monday, with Oklahoma coming in at No. 3.
The FPI rankings are designed to be the best predictor of a team’s performance heading into the season. The rankings measure how far above or below the national average each team is and uses thousands of simulations of the 2020 season to accurately rank each team.
ESPN preseason FPI top 10:
1) Clemson
2) Ohio State
3) Oklahoma
4) Alabama
5) Penn State
6) Wisconsin
7) Texas
8) Texas A&M

Oklahoma trails only No. 1 Clemson and No. 2 Ohio State. Alabama, Penn State, and Wisconsin follow the Sooners.
No. 7 Texas is the only Big 12 team to join the Sooners in the top 10.
Last year, Oklahoma began the season at No. 6 on the FPI rankings. The eventual champion LSU Tigers were ranked preseason No. 4, and the other two playoff teams, Clemson and Alabama, held the top-two spots.
The Sooners annual Spring Game is Saturday, April 18. No time for the exhibition game has been released yet.
Oklahoma kicks off their 2020 season on Saturday, Sep. 5 with a home game against Missouri State.
