Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler has been named a semifinalist for the Davey O’Brien Award, an honor presented each season to the nation’s best quarterback.
Rattler is one of just two freshman among the 17 semifinalists and one of three Big 12 quarterbacks.
On the year, he has completed 178 of his 260 passes for 2,512 yards and 24 touchdowns. His passing efficiency currently sits at 174.7 and he also rushed for four touchdowns in his nine starts.
Among freshmen, Rattler leads the country in passing touchdowns, passing yards, yards per attempt and total offense. The three finalists for the award will be announced on Dec. 22nd.
Rattler and his Oklahoma teammates will conclude their regular season on the road Saturday when they face West Virginia in Morgantown.
