The Oklahoma Sooners are in the top 10 of the US LBM Coaches Poll for the first time this season after upsetting Texas on Saturday

Following a 34-30 win over rival Texas in the Red River Showdown, the Oklahoma Sooners have moved into the top 10 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll.

The Sooners moved up five spots from their No. 12 position in last week’s poll and are now the country’s No. 7 team according to 64 head coaches across the country.

Other big winners include Louisville jumping from No. 25 to No. 15 following an upset win over Notre Dame, UCLA moving eight spots from the unofficial No. 30 spot to No. 22 thanks to a 25-17 upset of Washington State, and Kansas moving from the unofficial No. 34 spot to No. 24 after defeating UCF  51-22.

The Florida State Seminoles and Penn State Nittany Lions both moved up in the top five with Texas dropping out of the top 10. Florida State moved up one spot to No. 4 while the Nittany Lions entered the top five for the first time this season at the No. 5 spot.

Suffering major tumbles in the updated poll is the aforementioned Texas, falling from No. 4 to No. 11 after their loss to Oklahoma. Washington State fell from No. 14 to No. 19 after suffering their first loss while Notre Dame fell 10 spots from No. 11 to No. 21 after suffering their second loss in three weeks.

Other notables include USC dropping two spots from No. 7 to No. 9 despite improving to 6-0 on the season. The Trojans needed three overtime periods to avoid being upset by the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday night.

Two schools fell out of the poll this week after suffering losses in Week 6. The Miami Hurricanes fell from No. 17 to the first team out after losing on a last-minute touchdown to Georgia Tech. Fresno State also fell out of this week’s poll after losing to the Wyoming Cowboys in Laramie 24-19, snapping a 14-game winning streak dating back to last season.
