Not everyday does one of the best defensive lineman in the entire country includes Oklahoma amongst his final schools.
Maason Smith is the No. 6 overall player in the country according to Rivals. He’s the No. 1 defensive tackle and No. 1 player in the state of Louisiana. Prying top players away from the home state of LSU has been and will always be a tough task, but the Sooners are making a concerted effort to nab Smith.
He announced a final eight on Saturday, with Oklahoma making the list.

Joining the Sooners in the final eight are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Oregon and USC. The Tigers are going to be a tough beat, but Smith has talked up Oklahoma on social media alongside Caleb Williams in the past.
With official and unofficial visits on hold for the time being, the Sooners push for Smith will have to come once those can resume.
