Oklahoma (6-2, 5-2) is preparing to go for their sixth straight win this weekend when they host Baylor (2-5, 2-5).
It will be the 31st all-time meeting between the two programs with the Sooners holding a massive 27-3 series advantag. All three Bears wins came in a four-year period from 2011 to 2014.
Until 2011, Oklahoma was a remarkable 20-0 against Baylor dating back the teams’ first collision in 1973.
Since the Bears’ 48-14 stomping of the Sooners in Norman in 2014, the teams have met in multiple high-profile games with the team in crimson coming away with the win. Oklahoma’s 2015 win in Waco with Baker Mayfield at the helm really was a shift in the conference, with the power changing hands back to the perennial powerhouse Sooners ever since.
Last season, the two programs met twice with both games being ones to remember. The improbable 28-3 Oklahoma comeback in Waco and the overtime Big 12 Championship Game thriller were both games that will be remembered for quite some time.
With Baylor at the beginning of a new era under first-year head coach Dave Aranda, these two schools will rekindle the series this Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. CT in Norman.
