Oklahoma goes wire-to-wire in 33-14 win over TCU for second Big 12 win

Oklahoma had blown 21, 11 and 14-point leads in its last three games. That didn’t happen on Saturday as OU went wire-to-wire to beat TCU.

Oklahoma had blown 21, 11 and 14-point leads in its last three games.

The Sooners, though, prevailed at the Cotton Bowl over Texas in a season-defining 53-45 quadruple overtime win. Oklahoma carried that momentum into the bye week and down to Fort Worth, Texas.

Behind a big day from Spencer Rattler and the Sooners’ defense, Oklahoma took it to the Horned Frogs in a 33-14 win over Gary Patterson and TCU.

Rattler got going early, completing a 43-yard pass on a wheel route by Seth McGowan that set up a T.J. Pledger rushing touchdown. Early in the second-quarter, Rattler found Marvin Mims for a 50-yard touchdown pass.

The two would connect again late in the third-quarter on an impressive 61-yard touchdown catch and run by Mims. Rattler would finish with 332 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. Mims led Oklahoma in receiving with four catches for 132 yards and two touchdowns.

Gabe Brkic bounced back from his missed game-winning field goal against Texas, going 4 for 5 on field goal attempts, with the only miss coming from 54-yards.

The Sooners’ defense put a complete game together against TCU. The Horned Frogs scored a touchdown in each half and were held to 5.8 yards a play, but just 3.0 yards a carry.

Oklahoma moves to 3-2 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. The Sooners will take on Texas Tech on Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. CT.
