Oklahoma freshman WR Trevon West entering transfer portal

Oklahoma freshman wide receiver Trevon West officially entered the transfer portal on Tuesday.

It’s been a busy offseason already of players coming and going for Oklahoma, and the severe winter weather still isn’t enough to slow things down. Freshman wide receiver Trevon West officially entered the NCAA transfer portal on Tuesday.

The class of 2020 three-star product played in eight games a season ago picking up four receptions — all of which came in the season opener against Missouri State. He also made appearances against Texas, Texas Tech, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Iowa State in the Big 12 championship game and Florida in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl.

West committed to the Sooners back in February of 2019, and was rated just outside the top-100 wide receivers in the country in his class by 247Sports’ composite rankings. He had also received offers from several other power five programs in Texas Tech, Kansas, Illinois and Minnesota.

Obviously still an extremely young player, West certainly has the potential to be a good player down the road for another program. It may have just been a simple case of looking for an opportunity of more playing time, as where he fits in down the road wasn’t exactly clear with Oklahoma.

Sooners Wire will provide updates on where West lands as the information becomes available.
