Oklahoma first baseman Tyler Hardman named midseason All-American by D1Baseball

Oklahoma first baseman Tyler Hardman was named a midseason All-American by D1Baseball on Friday.

Oklahoma baseball is returning to action Friday night for the first of a three-game weekend set with conference foe Kansas. It is a big series for the Sooners to try and get things back on track in league play after dropping five of their first six Big 12 games.

Needing some wins, they’ll be looking for first baseman Tyler Hardman to continue his monstrous season to this point. Quite simply, he has been the best player on the team so far this season and one of the best players in the country. His incredible year earned some validation on Friday with D1Baseball naming Hardman a midseason All-American.

On the season, Hardman is batting an absurd .468 with an on-base percentage of .562. Both of those are good for top-10 in the country. He also has seven home runs and 30 RBIs, with ten doubles. He has been absolutely raking from the get-go in 2021.

On a team where the offense has mostly been really good, Hardman has stuck out as a near automatic hit every time he steps up to the dish. Head coach Skip Johnson said earlier in the season that few work as hard as Hardman on a day in and day out basis, and that has been on clear display this season.

He’ll look to keep his massive year rolling against Kansas Friday night at 6:30 p.m. CT.
