The Oklahoma defense will be getting another piece back for the 2021 season.
Senior defensive lineman LaRon Stokes will be taking advantage of the NCAA’s blanket waiver and returning to Norman next season, per The Athletic’s Jason Kersey.
#Sooners senior DL LaRon Stokes is taking advantage of the NCAA's blanket waiver and will return to the #Sooners in 2021, per a source close to him. He was injured for a few games last season and decided he wanted another year before making a run at the NFL.

Stokes came to the Sooners as a JUCO pickup prior to the 2019 season and was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year recording 15 tackles including 4.5 tackles for loss. Last season, he missed some time due to injury but still played in eight games and accumulated 12 total tackles including 2.5 for loss.
While Oklahoma is losing Ronnie Perkins to the NFL draft, the Sooners defense is still bringing back loads of talent in 2021 – especially along the defensive line. Stokes will join fellow returners Isaiah Thomas and Perrion Winfrey, among others, to form a very solid unit that will certainly have the ability to cause some serious disruption next season.
