The Oklahoma City Thunder (11-3) and San Antonio Spurs (6-8) meet Tuesday for NBA Cup group play. Tip-off from Frost Bank Center is set for 9:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Thunder vs. Spurs odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.
Season series: Thunder lead 1-0
The Thunder are coming off a 121-119 loss as 7-point favorites to the visiting Dallas Mavericks Sunday with the Over (225.5) hitting. The loss snapped a 3-game win streak for Oklahoma City, which has not lost back-to-back games all season.
The Spurs failed to cover as 14.5-point underdogs in a 110-93 loss at the Mavericks Saturday as the Under (229) cashed. San Antonio has lost back-to-back games and is on an 0-3 against-the-spread (ATS) skid.
In an Oct. 30 meeting, the Spurs covered as 12.5-point underdogs in a 105-93 loss at Oklahoma City while the Under (221) hit. Thunder G Luguentz Dort had a game-high 20 points, and F Chet Holmgren added 19.

Thunder at Spurs picks and predictions
Prediction
Thunder 117, Spurs 102
Moneyline
The Thunder (-450) were 18-10 after a loss last season, and now they’re facing a sub-.500 Spurs team which will likely be without its franchise player in Wembanyama.
While most people don’t like betting heavy favorites — and they shouldn’t because the bid-ask difference is usually too high — I wouldn’t be against playing the Thunder at -400 or cheaper.
At this price, though, PASS.
Against the spread
This number is reasonable. You only have to lay 9.5, and you get the much better team, the best player on the floor in Thunder G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and the game’s on national TV — so motivation shouldn’t be a concern for the Thunder.
While we have seen NBA teams play better for 1-2 games when a star player goes down, the Spurs played even worse than expected at Dallas Saturday, so it’s unlikely that they turn it around in their second game without Wembanyama Tuesday.
BET THUNDER -9.5 (-110).
Over/Under
I’m on the fence for this one. The loss of Wembanyama means fewer points for the Spurs, but also allows Oklahoma City to score easier at the rim. I believe the bigger impact is to the Spurs’ offense, but this number is not high enough for me to confidently bet the Under in this spot.
LEAN UNDER 222.5 (-110).
