Oklahoma begins season with Big 12 win at Colonial Collegiate Invitational

Oklahoma won its season debut against a tournament of Big 12 opponents at the Colonial Collegiate Invitational.

The Oklahoma men were the top-ranked team in the country when the college golf season was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In their first event of the delayed 2020 season, the Sooners got right back to business with a win at the Colonial Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. At 5 under, Oklahoma was the only school to finish under par. Texas came close, finishing second at 1 over, followed by Texas Tech at 10 over and Baylor, TCU and Kansas all T-4 at 23 over.

A Big 12-only field this season, the Colonial Collegiate Invitational, a 6-count-4 event, is also seeding competition for next weekend’s Big 12 Match Play Tournament.

The Sooners swept the team and individual titles thanks to Logan McAllister, who finished first at 3 under for the three rounds. Teammate Quade Cummins finished T-2 with Texas’ Pierceson Coody and Kansas’ Harry Hillier at 1 under. Pierceson’s twin brother Parker rounded out the top five at even par.
