Oklahoma 2020 player card: No. 28 Chanse Sylvie

Sooners Wire will be creating player cards for readers to be introduced to the 2020 roster. Here is No. 28 Chanse Sylvie.

There is a ton of momentum to having a 2020 college football season these days. No definite signs, yet, but the season would start less than 100 days from now.

Sooners Wire will be creating player cards for readers to be introduced to the 2020 roster.

Here is No. 28 for Oklahoma.

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Name: Chanse Sylvie

Number: No. 28

Year: Redshirt senior

Position: Defensive back

Hometown: Shreveport, Lousiana

Height/Weight: 6-foot-0, 195 pounds

A three-star recruit at safety per Rivals, Chanse Sylvie had 29 Division I offers. He took unofficial visits to TCU, Mississippi, Texas Tech, and LSU before a coach visit from Oklahoma in late April sealed the deal.

Sylvie has recorded 25 total tackles in his three years on the field for the Sooners. He’s recorded a stat in 14 games, and missed nearly the entire 2018 season due to injury.

In Alex Grinch’s first season with Oklahoma, Sylvie primarily played a backup role, playing in 12 games and amassing five tackles. The Sooners will more than likely be set at safety with Delarrin Turner-Yell, Patrick Fields, and the pair of up-and-coming sophomores Jeremiah Criddell and Woodi Washington, but Grinch’s system should allow Sylvie to see action in plenty of games regardless.
