Ohio State women’s ice hockey to play Minnesota in first round of NCAA Tournament

The Ohio State women’s hockey team has made the NCAA Tournament as a No. 5 seed and will take on a familiar foe in Minnesota.

It’s an exclusive club, and the Ohio State women’s hockey team has been invited. After making a run through the WCHA Tournament and winning the whole thing, the Buckeyes have earned a spot in the upcoming NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey Tournament.

Only eight teams qualify, and the Buckeyes made it in as the overall No. 5 seed and will play No. 4 seed Minnesota Friday at 5:00 PM Eastern in Boston.

Three teams from the talented WCHA made it into the NCAA tournament. Joining OSU and the Gophers are regular-season champion Wisconsin as the No. 2 seed. Other teams participating in all the fun are No. 1 seed Cornell, No. 3 seed Northeastern, Princeton, Clarkson, and Mercyhurst.

If the Buckeyes get past Minnesota, they’ll advance to the semifinals on March 20. The finals are set for March 22.
