Ohio State women’s ice hockey receive No. 1 seed in NCAA Tournament

Time to make a run for back-to-back national championships! #GoBucks

As expected, the Ohio State women’s ice hockey team received the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Women’s Hockey Tournament despite losing the WCHA final. The defending national champions have had one whale of a season, ranked No. 1 for most of the year and following up last season with a regular season WCHA conference title.

The bracket was unveiled on Sunday with OSU hosting as the No. 1 seed in the Columbus region. The tournament starts on March 9, but the Buckeyes get a bye and will begin play on March 11, facing the winner of Quinnipiac and Penn State.

The other No. 1 seeds are Colgate, Minnesota, and Yale in the eleven-team field. The Buckeyes and Goldern Gophers join Wisconsin and Minnesota-Duluth as teams from the WCHA that got into the field.

Ohio State finished the season with 70 points and a 31-5-2 record. It’ll be looking to embark on a journey it hopes ends with its second-ever national championship.
