Ohio State softball team adds three players for next season

Welcome to the program! #GoBucks

The athletic calendar may be over now that the College Baseball World Series is over, but it’s a year round effort to get the players in the fold to make a run at things next year.

The Ohio State softball team is no different. After hiring new head coach, Kirin Kumar, the program wasted no time in adding a trio of players to help make the team better in 2025. Two players followed Kumar from the school OSU lured her away from with the additions of Miami (OH) transfers Sami Bewick and Hadley Parisien. Joining those two will be incoming freshman, Lorin Boutte out of St. Charles, Missouri. Berwick is an infielder, Boutte is a pitcher, and Parisien mans the outfield.

“Sami, Lorin and Hadley are all great people first and foremost,” said Kumar in a statement. “I’m excited about what they will each add to the program both on and off the field. They’ve all had a good deal of success already in their careers and will bring that winning attitude to Ohio State.”

Berwick brings an established bat to the lineup. She hit .321 with 14 home runs, 55 RBI and 37 runs scored, good enough to earn her MAC Freshman of the Year last season. She was also was also a first team All-MAC and first team All-Region selection.

Parisien was also a first team All-MAC selection last season at Miami while hitting .357 with eight home runs, 32 RBI and 27 runs scored. She was also a member of the MAC All-Freshman Team and earned third team All-Region honors.

Boutte should add a much-needed presence in the circle. She recently graduated from Francis Howell High School. As a senior, she recorded 174 strikeouts in 102 innings and also hit .410 with 31 RBI en route to helping her team win a state championship. The year prior, she was just as good, notching 214 strikeouts in 132 innings while also contributing 34 RBI.

She was a Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year Finalist her junior season, and named conference and St. Louis Dispatch Metro Pitcher of the Year. She was also named first-team all-state and first-team all-region as a pitcher.

All look to be fantastic adds to the OSU program as the program looks to bounce back and become a Big Ten championship contender and get back to the NCAA Tournament.
