Despite optimism a day earlier, Ohio State will not be able to play its scheduled game against the University of New Orleans because it is still recovering from a spike in COVID-19 cases within the program.
Just a day prior (on Sunday), some news was circulated that Ohio State held a practice for the first time in ten days and was tracking towards playing the game on Tuesday, but according to head coach Chris Holtmann who appeared on ESPN affiliate 97.1 The Fan in Columbus, the team practiced with just five players, only four of which being eligible to play.
“Our guys are progressing through the COVID return to play protocols well, but we just don’t have the numbers or readiness to play a game yet,” said head coach Chris Holtmann in a statement. “Player safety as it relates to COVID and as they return to play after a significant time off, will always be a top priority.”

Ohio State’s next game is scheduled for Sunday, with the team traveling to Nebraska. According to the release, the Buckeyes are moving forward as though that game will happen. This is the third game that has been scratched for the OSU hoops team because of COVID-19.
