There’s still a long way to go before the college basketball slate is solidified next season for Ohio State. Like most years though, we’ll start to get a little trickle from here until then before it’s all set in stone.
One of those nuggets was made available Monday and it involves what team the Buckeyes will play for their home opener in 2020-2021. According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, that team will be Oakland at Value City Arena. No date has been set yet.
It’s not Oakland, like California, but rather a Horizon League opponent from Auburn Hills, Michigan. The Golden Grizzlies will be looking to build upon a 14-19 finish this past year.
It’ll still be a while before we know the rest of OSU’s schedule, but there has been some information available on other matchups already out there through various sources. Ohio State is already set to play in the Battle 4 Atlantis from November 24-27 that will also feature Duke, Memphis, Wichita State, West Virginia, Creighton, and Utah.

Chris Holtman also confirmed earlier in the year that the Buckeyes will host in-state opponent Akron at some point in the non-conference.
Hopefully, by then we’ll be coming out of the current pandemic and life and sports can get back to normal.
