Ohio State basketball loses race for Bryce James, who commits to Arizona

Bryce James, the son of LeBron James, a prominent Ohio State fan, has chosen to play college basketball at Arizona.

Bryce James has committed to Arizona.

He is the second-oldest son of LeBron James, a prominent Ohio State supporter who could’ve played college basketball in Columbus had he taken that route.

James is following in the footsteps of his brother, Bronny James Jr., and staying in the West for college. Bronny played one season with the USC Trojans before declaring for the draft, where he was selected by the Lakers.

It seems likely Bryce will follow a similar trajectory, especially if LeBron stays in the NBA until he reaches that level. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard is a three-star recruit and is playing his high school ball at Sierra Canyon.

The Buckeyes did offer James a spot, as did Duquesne. The guard did not take a visit to Columbus but had been on campus multiple other times for football games and such.

The Buckeyes have the 45th-overall Class of 2025 with Dorian Jones from Cleveland and A’mare Bynum from Branson, MO, committed.
