Ohio State basketball beats North Carolina: 3 Things we learned

Ohio State rolled into Chapel Hill and put on a display that’s going to turn heads. Here’s three things we learned.

D.J. Carton needs to be more assertive

There’s no denying the talent freshman point guard D.J. Carton has. He’s explosive, can handle the ball, and is one of the few guys on the team that can just create and get his own shot.

But he looked tentative in the first half.

He’s got everything, he has to just go get some points. He let the game to him a little too much against a team with a brand name on the front of the jersey, and I’m sure the coaching staff would love to see him create a bit more on his own and not look to defer against the better teams. He had zero shot attempts, zero points, and two turnovers in 8:35 of playing time in the first twenty minutes.

Now, he exerted himself a bit more and finished with eight points total. Hopefully, that’s a building moment because as he improves, so too does this squad.
