The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Indiana Hoosiers open the regular season at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Ohio State at Indiana odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Buckeyes head west on Interstate 70 to The Rock to open their season, and QB Kyle McCord has won the starting job for coach Ryan Day. However, expect to see QB Devin Brown also factor in at some point.

These teams faced each other in the 2017 season opener on a Thursday night, with the Buckeyes coming away with a 49-21 victory. In fact, Ohio State has won 27 straight meetings in this series dating back to 1991, with just 1 of the previous 7 meetings decided by less than 21 points.

The Hoosiers had a solid run in 2020, the only time Indiana kept it within 7 points against Ohio State. However, coach Tom Allen has struggled in the past 2 years to maintain consistency. He turns to Tennessee transfer QB Tayven Jackson to run the offense, but there will likely be a lot of growing pains along the way.

Ohio State is No. 4 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

Ohio State at Indiana picks and predictions

Prediction

Ohio State 45, Indiana 13

Moneyline

Ohio State (-10000) will cost you $100 for every $1 won, when it picks up the road victory. There is never a reason to risk anywhere close to that kind of money, especially for such a minuscule return. It shouldn’t have to be said, but PASS.

Against the spread

OHIO STATE -30.5 (-110) will drive you nuts at first. The Buckeyes will be breaking in a new QB in McCord, and there could be some bumps along the way as he gets his feet wet. However, the Buckeyes still have a very good run game, and WR Marvin Harrison Jr. is one of the best in the nation. This offense will hit its stride and start to pull away by the 3rd quarter, so be patient.

Over/Under

UNDER 59.5 (-115) is the lean, but play a half-unit at best.

I like the Buckeyes to get on the board early and often in the 1st half. Ohio State should have a rather sizable lead into the 2nd half before calling off the dogs. Will the Hoosiers be able to contribute anything to the total? I don’t think Indiana will be able to cobble together a lot of offense, and that’s why the lean is to go low.
