Defense: CB Eli Ricks
Senior safety/linebacker JaCoby Stevens had another big week, leading LSU in tackles with 11.
However, the player who stood out in the win was true freshman cornerback Eli Ricks.
Ricks didn’t fill up the stat sheet, recording two tackles and defending one pass. But he did pick up an interception for the second time in two games.
The 6-foot-2 196-pounder from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., is getting some national attention, too.
Highest-graded CBs in Wk 5:
1. Raleigh Texada, Baylor – 89.4
2. Arquon Bush, Cincinnati – 88.1
3. Andrew Booth Jr, Clemson – 87.3
4. Eli Ricks, LSU – 86.3 pic.twitter.com/o5DfubXUIS— PFF College (@PFF_College) October 5, 2020
Ricks was the fourth-highest-graded cornerback in all of college football last week and that’s with All-American Derek Stingley Jr. back on the field.
A healthy Stingley Jr. paired with Ricks should make Pelini’s job much easier for the rest of the season.
