Odell Beckham Jr. sent home from practice with an illness

Beckham has not tested positive for COVID-19 but has been retested

Odell Beckham Jr. was sent home from the Cleveland Browns training facility on Thursday with an undisclosed illness. The wide receiver did not practice with the team.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski was very quick to note that Beckham has not tested positive for COVID-19. Beckham was sent away as a precautionary measure in the obviously tense COVID-19 pandemic.

“I think we’ve been on high alert,” Stefanski explained via Zoom. “I think that’s just 2020. We just make sure that we’re following every protocol there is and keep everybody safe.”

Beckham has been given a new COVID-19 test, his first since passing all the protocols last week. The results are not yet known.

“With this day and age, you just have to be so careful in this environment,” Stefanski continued. “So just want to make sure we’re being proactive in that regard. With how the protocols are, just you have to be careful. So I don’t want to assume anything, but with all of our guys, we’ll make sure we just follow the protocols and just be safe.”
