Oddsmakers set Auburn’s win total at 7.5 for 2024 season

While the number may be disappointing to some fans, the line is higher than six other SEC teams.

Auburn’s football team may have a revamped offense heading into this fall, but oddsmakers don’t seem too keen on Cam Coleman and company providing the Tigers with a higher win total than they finished with last season.

After finishing 2023 with a disappointing 6-7 record, BetMGM Sportsbook has Hugh Freeze’s squad with an over/under win total of 7.5 this season. The “under” is currently favored with (-152) odds, giving the Tigers an implied probability of 60.52% to win less than 8 games this season.

While the number may be disappointing to some fans, the line is higher than six other SEC teams. Vanderbilt (2.5), Mississippi State (4.5), Florida (4.5), Arkansas (4.5), South Carolina (5.5), and Kentucky (6.5) are all projected to claim less victories than the Tigers. SEC newcomer Oklahoma (7.5) is the only other program in the conference projected the same amount of wins, although the Sooners favored at (-110), or 52.38%, to go over their total.

Texas A&M (8.5), Ole Miss (9.5), Tennessee (9.5), Missouri (9.5), LSU (9.5), and Alabama (9.5) are all projected to finish ahead of Auburn according to oddsmakers, while Texas (10.5) and Georgia (10.5) are tied at the top of the SEC.

Even though the 7.5 win total is not near the upper echelon of the conference, it is one game higher than what oddmakers set Auburn’s total (6.5) a season ago. As Hugh Freeze continues to mold the Tigers into the program he envisions, Auburn’s preseason totals should trend in the right direction moving forward. We’ll see if the Tigers can outplay their projections when the season kicks off on August 30 against Alabama A&M.
