Oddsmakers says Broncos have 3rd-best odds of signing Jameis Winston

The Broncos have the third-best odds of signing free agent quarterback Jameis Winston.

After signing Tom Brady, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers moved on from former starting quarterback Jameis Winston, who remains a free agent.

Winston will probably have to wait until after the NFL draft to find a new home. Oddsmakers have already started taking bets on where Winston will land the Denver Broncos have the third-best odds of landing the 26-year-old quarterback, according to BetMGM.

Here’s a look at the 10 teams with the best odds of signing Winston:

1. Jacksonville Jaguars +240
2. Los Angeles Chargers +500
3. Denver Broncos +800
4. Pittsburgh Steelers +900
5. New England Patriots +1200
T-6. Miami Dolphins +1600
T-6. Atlanta Falcons +1600
T-8. Tennessee Titans +2000
T-8. New Orleans Saints +2000
10. Washington Redskins +2200

With 8/1 odds, a $100 bet on Winston would win $800 if he ends up in Denver. We wouldn’t recommend taking that bet, though.

Touchdown Wire’s Michael Colangelo suggested last month that the Broncos should take a look at Winston. Here’s what we said then:

Denver already has a veteran backup in Driskel. It’s hard to imagine the team bringing in a high-profile backup like Winston when the team wants to build around Lock and have him lead the team in 2020 (and hopefully well beyond that).

With a high-profile backup like Winston, some fans might be quick to call for Lock to be benched if he has some struggles in Year 2. If the Broncos want Lock to start a full 16-game season, having a potential QB controversy wouldn’t help the chances of Lock getting through the year.

That stance still holds true — it’s hard to imagine Winston in Denver.
