Oddsmakers favor Chargers with winless Jets coming to town in Week 11

The Jets enter Week 11 as significant road underdogs against the Los Angeles Chargers.

As the Jets stumbled into the bye week, they will exit their week off without their starting quarterback in a Week 11 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Sam Darnold was ruled out for Sunday’s contest and there doesn’t seem to be optimism about an imminent return. The Jets will start Joe Flacco for the second consecutive game; the former Super Bowl MVP led Gang Green to its best offensive showing of the season against the Patriots, though it was in losing fashion.

New York, 0-9, will look to pick up its first win of the season on the road against the Chargers, who have found every which way to lose in 2020. While Justin Herbert has set the NFL world ablaze with his play during his rookie campaign, Los Angeles’ defense leaves a lot to be desired.

Even with both teams struggling, oddsmakers view the Chargers rather favorably. The Chargers are favored by 8.5 points on Sunday, according to BetMGM.

The total over/under for Sunday’s game is set at 46.5 points with the Chargers holding at -106 and the Jets holding at -115. New York possesses a money line of +340 at an 8.5-point disadvantage. Against the spread, both teams hold the same line at -110.

While the Jets will have Mekhi Becton back for Sunday’s game, it remains to be seen whether the rookie left tackle will have to go up against Joey Bosa, who missed Week 10 with a concussion. Regardless, the Jets will have their hands full against a dominant defensive front.

The Chargers will look at the Jets as a get-right game after dropping their third straight contest in a row to the red-hot Miami Dolphins. The Jets will travel to Miami in Week 12.
