Even after a bit of a down game in a win against the New York Giants, the Buffalo Bills remain a large favorite in their upcoming matchup with the New England Patriots.
According to BetMGM, the Bills (4-2) have opened as a 8.5-point favorite over the Patriots (1-5). That, despite the game being played in New England. Typically the home team gets around a three-point bump in the spread.
Naturally, the different records between the two teams explains why. The Pats are off to an awful start and are in the basement of the AFC East.
Most would pick the Bills to outright win this one. But could the Patriots still cover? That looks unlikely, too. New England’s record against the spread is the same as their overall record, 1-5.
Meanwhile, Buffalo is 3-3. The lone win the Bills have had where they did not cover came against the Giants last week. The Bills were over two-touchdown favorites and won 14-9.
In addition to the spread, the over/under opened as the lowest total Buffalo has had for a contest: 41. Even so, the Bills have struggled to reach their point totals so far in 2023, having only done so twice. New England, again, has a 1-5 record against the over/under.
The moneyline sits at Bills (-400) and Patriots (+310).
