Now healthy following a hip injury that sidelined him last season. Quincy Allen is back to being arguably the most athletic player on the Colorado men’s basketball roster.
Yes, we have yet to see him in full game action, but from everything I’ve seen and heard, the 6-foot-8, 198-pound guard/forward can do most everything on the court and even drop a few jaws according to Tad Boyle.
I got a chance to chat with Allen during Colorado basketball’s media day on Wednesday and he was of course thrilled that the Buffs are just weeks away from their exhibition against Nebraska.
“I’m excited to get out there and just start playing again because it’s been a little minute,” Allen said. “But I’m definitely excited just to get out there and show people what I can do.”
Allen added while watching on the sidelines last year, he learned to value his play on the defensive side of the ball, a typical consequence of playing for Boyle.
Boyle said that even though Allen is going into his second season with the program, he still views him as a freshman on the court. Allen’s skillset, though, doesn’t mimic many rookies.
“Quincy will make plays that just make your jaw drop,” Boyle said. “He’s so athletic, he’s so balanced and he can block shots.”
