Notre Dame’s National Signing Day: Five Things to Know

Five-star wide receiver Jordan Johnson hadn’t announced if he was going to announce his signing on Wednesday and some took that as him not being thrilled with Chip Long’s departure and what it meant for his commitment.

If you are new to the 2020 recruiting class you’re hardly alone.  One of the first things you usually do is search the likes of ESPN, Rivals or 247Sports to see where your favorite teams are ranked or learn some basic information about your team’s commitments.

When you do so with Notre Dame you’ll see a few numbers that probably don’t jump off the page at you as being overly impressive as the list of verbal commitments had the following rankings as of Wednesday’s early morning hours:

247Sports – 13th
ESPN – 13th
Rivals – 16th

You’ll also see that Notre Dame has just 17 commitments compared to most other schools ranked above them having roughly 25 or so commitments.  Notre Dame’s intentionally smaller class keeps them ranked lower but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a few names you need to become quickly aware of.
