2020 Player Preview – Jafar Armstrong Season Outlook
Notre Dame enters 2020 with a lot of bodies but not a lot of certainties at running back. Can Armstrong and some good health help him return to 2018 form is the question Notre Dame fans should be rooting hard for “yes” on.
Injury or not, Armstrong simply wasn’t the same player in 2019 as he was in ’18.
Assuming health, Armstrong is the running back most likely to be able to provide a spark in the big play department entering 2020. I don’t know what was missing in 2019 for him but I have trouble believing it was solely health. Something just seemed off with him. Dancing instead of running to a hole – simply not the guy he was the year before.
If Armstrong returns to form as he was the first half of 2018, and he’ll likely have the majority of the opportunities to do so, Notre Dame still probably isn’t going to a team that just runs everyone to death but they’ll be in decent enough shape.
If he’s unable to do so?
It could be another long year running the ball against better opponents again for the Fighting Irish.
