The reports that surfaced earlier this week have been made official in South Bend: Notre Dame has hired Micah Shrewsberry to be its head coach.
Shrewsberry, who has deep ties to the state of Indiana, comes to Notre Dame after spending the last two seasons as Penn State’s head coach. He helped lead the Nittany Lions to the NCAA Tournament’s second round this year.
Shrewsberry becomes the 18th head coach in Notre Dame basketball history and he has a tough task at hand after the Irish struggled to one of the most disappointing seasons in program history.
