Notre Dame now knows who its opponent will be in the College Football Playoff championship

The irish can now start getting ready for a familiar foe

Notre Dame has twice had the chance to set the tone in a College Football Playoff round, and both times it has taken care of business and moved on.

The most recent was the biggest, as the win on Thursday night over Penn State advanced them to the championship game. The Irish got a chance to relax on Friday and watch Ohio State and Texas battled it out in the Cotton Bowl.

The Buckeyes scored twice in the fourth quarter, breaking away from a 14-14 tie, and won 28-14. They will now take on Notre Dame, and running back Jeremiyah Love is getting his wish.

Notre Dame and Ohio State have faced each other in each of the last two seasons, with the Buckeyes coming out on top both times. Love has revenge in his mind, and the Irish will get a chance to do that on the biggest stage in college football.

Ohio State Buckeyes running back TreVeyon Henderson (32) scores a touchdown on a 75-yard touchdown catch and run against Texas Longhorns in the second quarter of the Cotton Bowl Classic during the College Football Playoff semifinal game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on January, 10, 2025.
