Notre Dame makes first cut for ’22 quarterback

Dual-threat ’22 quarterback Gavin Wimsatt made his first cut on Friday and Notre Dame was included. See who else the Irish are up against.

Notre Dame has extended scholarship offers to three quarterbacks so far in the 2022 recruiting cycle and received news on Friday that they’ve been included in the top nine schools for one of those players.

Gavin Wimsatt, a four-star prospect and dual-threat quarterback from Owensboro, Kentucky had Notre Dame in his list of nine schools in what is a wide-ranging list.

Notre Dame joins Louisville, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Oregon, Rutgers, and Cincinnati in the Wimsatt’s top-nine schools.

Wimsatt is rated by 247Sports as the second-best dual-threat quarterback in the 2022 recruiting cycle and has received offers from over 20 programs to date.

In the last two seasons, Wimsatt has thrown for over 5,100 yards, 58 touchdowns, and rushed for another 18 scores at Owensboro High School.
