Notre Dame in pop culture: Happy anniversary, ‘Parks and Recreation’

We miss you in the saddest fashion…

Where were you on April 9, 2009?

That was the day the world outside of fictional Pawnee, Indiana was introduced to the show “Parks and Recreation” which would last seven memorable seasons and eventually include the University of Notre Dame giving an honorary degree to a miniature horse.

It’s one of the most random but best pop culture references to Notre Dame that I can remember.

Some of you are probably entirely confused as to what’s going on here but the show was one of my absolute favorites and seeing Notre Dame acknowledge the anniversary this morning on social media warmed my heart.

The series debuted on this day in 2009 but two years later, in season three, episode seven, Lil’ Sebastian made his debut to the acclaim of the stars of the show.

Well, except for one.

Take a look as the world is introduced to Lil’ Sebastian for the first time:

If you’ve never watched the show then you’re missing out.  In a world of dramas, overacting, and reality TV the show was a throwback of sorts that only gets better with time.  They’re available online and one of the best things about the series is that you can watch pretty much any episode and enjoy it without feeling like you’re entirely missing out.

Have a great Friday.
