Notre Dame gameballs for 52-0 win over South Florida

Who were the best players on the field in Notre Dame’s 52-0 win over South Florida? The Fighting Irish Wire staff shares their game balls

Geoffrey Clark:

Offense – Ian Book

It’s difficult to pick against a player who ran for three touchdowns, even if they were from short distances.  Regardless, he came out looking more confident than he did in the opener, and the rest of the offense fed off of that energy.  No, he didn’t throw for any touchdowns, but that wasn’t really necessary in this game.

Defense – Clarence Lewis

The freshman did well in his first career start, recording five tackles and breaking up three passes.  He should have had his first interception to end USF’s first drive in the third quarter, but it worked out well anyway because it gave the Irish better field position when they took over.  He’s going to be a nuisance in that secondary for the next few years, and this was a nice coming-out party for him.
