Notre Dame Football Well Represented on ESPN’s Top 150 Coaches List

Knute Rockne was the highest former Fighting Irish coach to make the list, coming in at three. He trails only Paul Bryant and Nick Saban on the list.

No. 88. Dan Devine

A legend at Missouri who went to Notre Dame in 1975 following a stint with the Green Bay Packers, Devine led the Irish to the 1977 national championship.

In six seasons Devine went 53-16-1 at Notre Dame with his most memorable wins coming in the “Green Jersey Game” in 1977 over USC and the improbable comeback led by Joe Montana in the 1979 Cotton Bowl over Houston.
