Notre Dame eliminates No. 1 Tennessee in the Knoxville Super Regional.

Tennessee’s season ended Sunday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The Volunteers (57-9) lost to unseeded Notre Dame, 7-3, in a series finale of the Knoxville Super Regional.

Tennessee, a No. 1 national seed, squandered a 3-1 lead in the seventh inning. The Fighting Irish (40-15) scored three runs in the inning.

Notre Dame tied the game on a two-run home run by David LaManna. Jack Brannigan hit a solo home run giving the Fighting Irish a 4-3 lead.

Notre Dame scored three runs in the eighth inning. Carter Putz hit a two-run double and Jack Zyska hit an RBI single.

Tennessee took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Luc Lipcius hit a solo home run. Notre Dame tied the game in the second inning.

The Vols regained its lead in the second inning. Seth Stephenson hit an RBI single.

Stephenson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, hit a scoring double to make it, 3-1, in the fifth inning.

Chase Burns (8-2) pitched 6.2 innings and allowed four runs, five hits and one walk. He recorded five strikeouts.
