It wasn’t the most inspiring of performances but it was enough to get the job done and move to 4-0 on the season for Notre Dame on Saturday as the Irish outlasted Central Michigan 41-17.
Big plays told the story offensively for Notre Dame as Tobias Merriweather scored a 75-yard touchdown reception from Sam Hartman on the first Irish drive. Before halftime, Chris Tyree would add a 76-yard touchdown reception as well.
However, self-inflicted issues kept Notre Dame from running away, along with inspired play by Central Michigan. Penalties remained an issue for the Irish, as did an enormous amount of missed tackles and failures to execute offensively.
With all that said, Notre Dame was in control throughout, even while dealing with some frustrations.
