55-man roster, Week 2 elevations have Cowboys sticking with what worked

The Cowboys are sticking to the winning formula with their roster decisions in Week 2. | From @KDDrummondNFL

The Dallas Cowboys have a different group of players on the final injury report in Week 2, things shifting a bit from the season-opening win over the New York Giants. For that game, Dallas elevated a backup offensive lineman and a special teams’ ace. That ace orchestrated the game’s opening score. Even though CJ Goodwin wasn’t the one who blocked the kick, scooped up the loose ball or returned it to the other end zone, that was his play.

Goodwin saw the tendency in the Giants’ FG block process, told Juanyeh Thomas how to approach it and it all worked. So of course, Dallas is sticking with the same formula of practice squad elevations in Week 2. Goodwin and Interior OL Brock Hoffman are both up from the practice squad. Hoffman saw action himself, getting seven snaps after Dallas pulled their starters in the 40-0 trouncing. Will he get any playing time in Week 2 as they take on the New York Jets? Hopefully it won’t be the result of both starting guard — Tyler Smith and Zack Martin — being on this week’s report.

Here’s a look at the complete 55-man crew that Dallas will use to determine their game-day roster.
