North Carolina moves up in latest USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Poll

The UNC baseball program moves up two spots in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The North Carolina Tar Heels baseball program didn’t get last week off to a great start, dropping its second straight game, a loss to South Carolina on Tuesday in Charlotte. But it bounced back in a big way in Atlantic Coast Conference play.

UNC took the series in Atlanta over Georgia Tech by winning the first two games before the Yellow Jackets won the finale. And that helped UNC in the latest polls.

The USA TODAY Sports Coaches poll was released on Monday after a four-game week for the Tar Heels. They did enough to move up two spots from No. 15 to No. 13. This comes after UNC fell to No. 15 a week ago despite winning the series at Notre Dame.

For North Carolina, it begins a stretch of nine straight games in Chapel Hill beginning with Tuesday’s game against Queens. It hosts Miami for a big ACC battle starting on Thursday night.

This upcoming stretch will be huge for the Diamond Heels; we have slightly more than a month left of the regular season.
