North Carolina moves up in AP Top 25 poll

The UNC football program moved up in the latest Associated Press top 25 poll after beating South Carolina.

North Carolina’s 31-17 win over South Carolina on Saturday night in front of a national audience got them off to a good start. With two straight home games upcoming, the Tar Heels needed to get the first win and then take care of business in the next two weeks before ACC play.

With the win over South Carolina, the Tar Heels also moved up in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll.  North Carolina checked in at No. 17 in the updated poll, moving up four spots from No. 21.

The Tar Heels are the second-highest-ranked ACC team in the updated poll, as Florida State moved up to No. 4 with the win over LSU. Clemson moved down to No. 25 after losing to Duke and the Blue Devils jumped into the poll at No. 21.

Pitt (8), Miami (4), NC State (4), and Louisville (1) also received votes as ACC programs.

For North Carolina, next up is a home game against Appalachian State. They will then host Minnesota the week after before heading on the road for the first ACC game of the year at Pitt.
