No alternate helmet for the Browns in 2022

All 14 alternate or throwback helmets have been announced for 2022:

The wave after wave of alternative helmet announcements is over, it seems. While the Cleveland Browns announced their 75th-anniversary uniform last year, more teams got in on the possibility of uniform changes this year.

Previously, the NFL did not allow teams to have multiple helmets preferring that each team had one standard version always worn with the various uniforms the team had. Becoming a bit more flexible, with profit as an important factor, the league opened up some creative options.

As covered yesterday, that led the Chicago Bears to don a very familiar orange-colored helmet. While it lacked the Browns trademark “oreo stripe” and added the letter “C” to the side, there is now another orange helmet in the NFL.

The majority of alternative helmets were given a black makeover while a few teams decided to go with throwback helmets this year:

Some fans are still hoping that Cleveland adds an orange jersey to the rotation but that has repeatably been shot down as a rumor that is unlikely to come to fruition.

With all 14 teams being announced, no white helmet for the Browns in 2022. Given the tradition behind the helmet, it is fitting but, probably, there will come a time when some new version of the team’s iconic helmet will exist.
