It wasn’t the prettiest of performances but it was good enough to get Notre Dame to 4-0 for the first time since 2018.

It’s easy to sit and blame the quarterback for a poor showing but it wasn’t like Ian Book was being helped out much by what was supposed to be a strength of this Notre Dame team in 2020.

On Saturday the Notre Dame wide receivers combined to pull down just six receptions for 70 yards total and no scores.

They came up huge, specifically Ben Skowronek and Javon McKinley on Notre Dame’s final possession of the game, but it was a long time to get there on what has been a pretty forgettable start for the Notre Dame receivers.

Braden Lenzy didn’t get a touch on the afternoon as he was limited with a “soft tissue injury”.

If Notre Dame is to perform like a top five team in the nation it’s going to need a lot more production from what was believed to be a strength of a position entering the year.
