No. 1 Tennessee defeats Campbell and advances to the Knoxville Regional championship game.

Tennessee notched a comeback victory against Campbell Saturday.

Tennessee, the top national seed in the NCAA baseball tournament, outlasted third-seeded Campbell, 12-7, at Lindsey Nelson Stadium before an announced attendance of 4,385.

Tennessee (55-7) prevailed and set a single-season program record for wins.

Campbell (41-18) scored four runs in the third inning.

The Vols scored three runs in the fourth inning to pull to within, 4-3. Trey Lipscomb drove in Tennessee’s first run with an RBI single that plated Drew Gilbert.

Jorel Ortega hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning.

The Vols took the lead with four runs in the fifth inning. Gilbert hit a three-run home run and Ortega, who went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and three RBIs, hit a scoring single to give Tennessee a 7-4 lead.

The Camels pulled to within 7-6 when Drake Pierson hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning.

Blake Burke’s solo home run in the eighth inning, extending Tennessee’s advantage to 8-6. Campbell’s Connor Denning’s hit solo home run in the eighth inning.

Chase Dollander started for Tennessee and surrendered four runs (two earned), six hits and two walks, while striking out two.

Kirby Connell (4-0) pitched four innings of relief. He gave up two runs, three hits and two walks, while striking out four.
