Niners DE Nick Bosa named PFWA Rookie of the Year

Nick Bosa’s rookie season was the best of the 2019 NFL draft class.

The Pro Football Writers Association announced their rookie awards on Tuesday via press release. This includes rookie of the year as well as rookies of the year for both offense and defense as well as their All-Rookie team. San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa earned both Defensive Rookie of the Year and Rookie of the Year for 2019.

Bosa had a monster rookie season. Seemingly unblockable at times, he finished his rookie campaign with nine sacks, 25 quarterback hits, 47 total tackles and one interception in 14 starts and 16 total games.

The Niners selected Bosa No. 2 overall out of Ohio State in the 2019 NFL draft. Bosa’s football lineage runs with deep with big brother Joey a star for the Los Angeles Chargers and dad John was a first-round pick back in 1987.
