Nick Saban speaks on Alabama QB Bryce Young’s decision-making abilities

Nick Saban comments on Bryce Young’s abilities after a questionable move against the Gators.

Alabama starting quarterback Bryce Young is only a true sophomore, which has led many in the college football community to question whether he has what it takes to make quick, crucial decisions in-game.

In the Crimson Tide’s most recent contest on the road against the Florida Gators, Young had an opportunity to easily run the ball into the end zone, as he was only a few yards away. However, he decided to try and throw a lob pass to tight end Cameron Latu, who caught the pass, but landed out of bounds.

That rushing touchdown likely would have sealed the fate of the game minutes before the game clock hit zero. It ultimately didn’t matter, as Alabama won by two points anyway.

The aforementioned poor decision was a catalyst that has led many to question his decision-making abilities this past week.

Today, Nick Saban met with the media and addressed the masses’ qualms.

It’s important to note that not only is this his first season as the Alabama starting quarterback, but in his nine appearances from last season as Mac Jones’ backup, all contests were played with limited, or no fans altogether.

His first SEC contest on the road was a packed top-15 matchup in The Swamp. Can you blame him for being a bit nervous and making a minor mistake or two?

Saban certainly doesn’t seem worried and has full faith in Young.
